About the Role
Residential Youth Support Workers are needed to join our Geraldton team.
These permanent or casual positions support young people living in LWB's residential care homes.
They work directly with children and young people, supporting day-to-day running of the house with domestic duties and activities in line with care plans.
Experience and understanding of trauma and de-escalating behaviours is required.
The program prioritises safety and well-being, offering a predictable, home-like environment that is culturally safe and responsive.
Shift example
Weekdays: 2pm – 8pm
Weekends: 10am – 8pm
Key Responsibilities
Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
Support the young person's interests
Establish rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
Domestic duties and support the young person to learn how to look after themselves (e.g., cooking, housework, laundry)
Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
Medication administration (when required)
Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping
Skills & Experience
Minimum qualification level – Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or working towards a relevant qualification
Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
Experience working with young people from Indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
A current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)
A current Drivers Licence
Experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models will be highly regarded
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities DCP395 Check and WA Working with Children Check.
