Barclay Recruitment is partnering with a leading Mechanical Engineering and Fabrication company in Brisbane to find an experienced Mechanical Designer and Drafter.
The company has been in business for over 40 years, developing bespoke engineering solutions for various industries. With a full work pipeline and internal promotions, an opportunity exists for a skilled professional to join their team of 130 dedicated staff near the Port of Brisbane.
As a Mechanical Drafter, you will be responsible for:
* Providing efficient design solutions for processes and products
* Detailed design work on components, machinery, equipment, structures, and vehicles
* Working on project stages from R&D to design, fabrication drawings, and 3D models
* Liaising with clients and project managers to establish engineering activities
* Ensuring Structural and Mechanical Designs meet Australian Standards
* Improving and customizing existing designs according to customer needs
* Detailed design and drafting of process plant and mechanical equipment using Inventor
* Producing concept designs through to detailed fabrication drawings
* Liaising with design engineers, trades, fabrication staff, project managers, and customers
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A track record as a Mechanical Designer
* Minimum five years of experience working in a related field
* Experience across multiple relevant industries
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Competency in Australian industry standards and codes
* Excellent communication skills
* Autonomy and ability to work independently
* Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
* Relevant qualification or experience in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
* Trade qualification or background (advantageous)
* Design experience with plant and equipment layout
* Experience with process, material handling, food manufacturing, mineral processing, mining, chemical manufacturing, heavy vehicles
