About the role
The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), a specialist mental health service that provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and collaborative care planning in partnership with stakeholders to support best practice mental health care for children and young people (0-17 years) and their families/carers who are living in the MNCLHD.
Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a multi-disciplinary, collaborative, assertive treatment team that delivers care in diverse settings. CAMHS provides safe, high quality and culturally sensitive multi-disciplinary assessment, formulation and interventions that demonstrate best practice principles and reflect evidence-based care. There is a focus on multi and inter disciplinary approach to individuals care, which includes the disciplines of Psychology, Nursing, Psychiatry, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Peer Workers and Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians. Individual, developmental, and systemic needs guide the assessment and treatment.
What you'll be doing
This role involves engaging in comprehensive assessments and delivering developmentally appropriate, evidenced based therapeutic interventions, aimed at supporting the child or young person's emotional wellbeing, mental health, and fostering family, community and school relationships. The clinician works closely with children, young people and their families and carers to enhance their sense of agency and build their capacity for improving mental health and wellbeing. This is achieved through tailored care planning and coordination. The Mental Health Clinician's goal is to engage in safety planning, care planning, stakeholder engagement and supporting mental health intervention. The clinician will be part of the child and adolescent mental health multidisciplinary team using evidence based clinical practices to improve young people's outcomes and support their overall mental health journey.
About you
We are seeking a passionate and skilled clinician who holds qualifications eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers, or registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, or Psychology Board of Australia. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge, skills and experience in assessing and treating young people with complex mental health needs, using evidence-based approaches to deliver high-quality care. A sound understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act and its Amendments, the Children and Young Persons (Care & Protection Act) 2010, National Mental Health Standards (2010), and best-practice mental health service delivery is essential to succeed in this rewarding role.
