This is a recruitment pool for Permanent - Full Time, Permanent – Part Time, Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed - Term Part Time and Casual positions with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. The pool will provide an opportunity for suitably qualified applicants to be considered for both current and future vacancies as they arise, for the duration of the pool.
Current vacancies include:
* Healthy Weight Service- This is a permanent part time (0.5 FTE) position, with days of work on Wednesdays and Thursdays according to clinic hours. The other half a day is flexible.
Position Profile
We are seeking Clinical Psychologists to join our Department Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology based at Perth Children’s Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing service while developing your practice within a dynamic paediatric healthcare setting.
Reporting to the Head of the Department, you will develop integrated care plans, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical care that is responsive to the needs of our patients. You will assess, provide intervention, and consult on a diverse range of paediatric inpatient and outpatient cases, addressing cognitive, emotional, and functional challenges to enhance the overall well-being of the child and their family.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the provision of clinical psychology therapies and assessments, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop clinical programs and initiatives. They will also demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, actively participating in multidisciplinary teams (MDT) to deliver holistic patient care in partnership with medical specialists, nursing, and other allied health professionals.
Key responsibilities include:
* Working collaboratively within MDT settings across various departments.
* Developing and adapting care plans for children with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and complex medical needs under the primary care of paediatricians or surgeons.
* Actively participating in departmental meetings, case presentations, conferences, research, benchmarking, education, and development activities, aiming to enhance service delivery and contribute to the broader field of rehabilitation psychology.
* Providing mentorship, supervision, and training to junior staff and contribute to the professional development within the department and broader clinical community.
* Developing intervention and group programs within the psychology team.
* Liaising with community agencies and contributing to the ongoing mapping and analysis of caseloads, referrals, and service demands to inform future staffing and departmental growth.

Please note a Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology and eligibility for full registration and Clinical Psychology Registrar status with the Psychology Board of Australia is a requirement for this role.
Prior experience within a tertiary setting is desirable. Relevant experience in working with children and families will be highly regarded; however, applicants with relevant experience adult care will be provided the opportunity for support and education to translate your knowledge to a paediatric setting.
About our Department of Psychology and Neuropsychology
Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, our dedicated team provide a state-wide service to children aged 0–16 years, and their families, according to cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and psychological needs, including both inpatients and outpatients.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, we deliver holistic and integrated psychological care aimed at improving outcomes for children with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and complex medical needs, including when mental health challenges affect their engagement with medical treatment.
We also provide crucial support and education to families as they navigate the challenges and impact of the child’s illness, disability or hospitalisation, and collaborate with schools to develop tailored strategies and accommodations to support the child at home and in community settings.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we actively participate in innovative research, education and comprehensive clinical training to continually enhance the quality of care provided.
About the Healthy Weight Service
This is a unique opportunity to join a specialist multidisciplinary team delivering statewide care and contribute to meaningful, long-term improvements in health outcomes and family wellbeing for children living with severe, complex obesity and related conditions.
As a Clinical Psychologist, you will work closely with children and families to address cognitive, emotional and behavioural factors, build resilience, and support sustainable, family-centred lifestyle change.
