FULL-TIME | SALARY $138,504 P.A. PLUS SUPER | FIXED 1 YEAR CONTRACT (MATERNITY LEAVE COVER) | COMMENCING 17 JANUARY 2026 UNTIL 18 DECEMBER 2026
The Company
Catholic Education in the Northern Territory is a network of schools built on Christian values and on the history and traditions of this land across Australia's top end. Catholic Education has a network of 18 schools in the Northern Territory - five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre and five remote schools and Early Learning Centres.
The Role
The School Psychologist provides support to Catholic school principals, teachers and support staff, helping them design and implement Education Adjustment Plans and targeted interventions that address the behavioural, social‑emotional and learning needs of students requiring individualised programs.
Key Responsibilities
The School Psychologist will:
* Administer psychometric assessments and complete clinical reports for schools.
* Ensure inclusive and equitable practice in line with the Disability Standards for Education (2005).
* Facilitate professional learning within schools and at a regional level to bring principals, teachers and support staff to a greater understanding of how to differentiate teaching and learning to meet the individual needs of all students.
* Support holistic education in the Catholic tradition, and have an appreciation of teaching and learning.
* Provide psycho-educational support and assistance to families and school communities to support students with behavioural, social and emotional learning needs.
* Apply psychological skills and knowledge to improve the mental health, learning and behavioural outcomes for students in collaboration with school personnel, parents, caregivers and other stakeholders.
* Support staff in Catholic schools with recommendations to include in education adjustment plans.

Essential Criteria
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications to register as a psychologist in Australia.
* Knowledge of the current Australian Government and CENT policies, including those relating to the Disability Discrimination Act and an understanding of the education of students with additional needs.
* Elementary knowledge of current curriculum, theory and practice in relation to special needs programs and assessment tools.
* Demonstrated awareness of the social, economic and cultural diversity within the NT.
* Administering, scoring and interpreting appropriate screeners and diagnostic assessments.
* Liaise with specialists involved in the diagnosis or support for students with additional needs.
* Manage or participate in special projects or committees as directed by LISS.
* Commitment to Catholic Education.
