Offer description

Are you a strategic Financial Controller/SME CFO who loves being at the heart of the action? Do you thrive in a collaborative SME environment where you can see the direct impact of your work? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join a successful Australian manufacturer. This is a newly created role where you'll do more than just manage the numbers - you'll be a key strategic partner to the CEO and Board, building the financial framework that will drive the company's future (currently $50 million turnover).

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide strategic and operational financial leadership for the business. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will be responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring robust governance, and supporting the company's growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with our business objectives, advising the Board on performance, risk, and growth opportunities.
* Oversee all financial operations, ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate reporting, budgets, and forecasts to guide decision-making.
* Partner with Operations, Sales, and Estimating teams to drive profitability through cost control, margin analysis, and strategic pricing support.
* Manage all statutory obligations (BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax), oversee payroll, and ensure robust internal controls and governance frameworks are in place.
* Lead the implementation and maintenance of accounting/ERP systems and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.
* Act as the key financial point of contact for external partners, including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

To Be Successful in This Role

You will be a commercially astute finance executive who thrives in a dynamic environment. As a natural leader, you balance high-level strategic thinking with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem-solving. Your background in manufacturing or project-based industries has given you a deep understanding of the complexities of operational finance, allowing you to partner effectively across the entire business.

Key Qualifications and Experience

* CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualification with 10+ years of experience in senior finance leadership.
* A proven track record of success as a CFO or senior finance executive, ideally within a complex manufacturing or project-based environment.
* Exceptional strategic capabilities, with demonstrated success in leading business transformation, capital management, and growth initiatives.
* Strong technical expertise across cost accounting, inventory management, corporate tax, and ERP systems.
* Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

All applicants for this position must be authorised to work for any employer in Australia.
