The Planning and Architecture Program is seeking a talented and Solution Architect - Infrastructure and Observations with significant strategic, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
The Solution Architect will have a focus on technology and can work in a strategic manner across all programs.
The person will work within the Architecture team with guidance from the Lead Architect, Senior Architects as well as the Chief Architect, to produce solution architecture across projects from multiple groups across the Bureau.
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience in Solution Architecture and Solution Design across on-premise and the cloud with a focus on IT and Operational technologies including experience with Standard Operating Environments for Operational Technology Equipment, Automatic Weather Stations, and other solutions for Field equipment including understanding on Network and security considerations.
* Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of business and technical requirements; the analysis of technical business and IT issues; risk identification.
* Experience collecting and translating business functional and non-functional requirements into high-level Solutions Architecture Designs.
* Have well developed liaison, communication and documentation skills.
* Recommend options for senior architects at the appropriate time, taking into account the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and the availability of necessary information.
* Be a good team player, self-motivated and to work on own initiative, being proactive, taking action and anticipating opportunities.
* Understanding of application architecture, platforms and solutions that support the business.
* Ability to complete both reference architecture artefacts (such as Technology Reference Model, Roadmaps, patterns and guides, as well as Conceptual and Solution Architecture Designs as part of Planning and Architecture function.
* The Solution Architect will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
* The Solution Architect and will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve Bureau outcomes.
* Technology Investment Planning: Assist GM Planning & Architecture with investment planning and recommendations to CITO where Cloud technologies are to be considered used.
* Well-developed engagement and communication skills.
* Experience in capturing, planning, and prioritising technology pipeline, including future state sustainment activities and coordinating new initiatives.
* Experience in systems administration, project management, service delivery, support, architecture, and application development.

* Some experience across both on-premise and Cloud (AWS and Azure) Infrastructure technologies and Solutions (Including Networks, Storage, Compute, End-User Compute and Cyber Security components).
