Experience Required: Minimum 5 years Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related fieldRole OverviewThe Patching Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the end‑to‑end patching lifecycle across Windows, Linux, AIX, and database platforms. This role works closely with the Security team to ensure patch compliance, mitigate vulnerabilities, and deliver accurate reporting to internal stakeholders and clients. The candidate will own patching governance, coordinate patching activities, track progress to closure, and ensure adherence to compliance frameworks.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatching Operations & CoordinationManage and coordinate patching activities across Windows, Linux, AIX, and database servers (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).Ensure all patching cycles run smoothly, including planning, scheduling, execution, and closely with Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to validate patch applicability and scheduling constraints.Perform end‑to‑end tracking of patch deployments, from initiation to completion.Escalate and resolve patching failures or blockers promptly.Compliance & GovernanceOwn and maintain patching compliance across all supported environments.Ensure systems meet internal security standards and external regulatory requirements.Review vulnerability reports and align patching efforts to reduce critical risks.Reporting & Client CommunicationPrepare and present daily patching status, deployment progress, and compliance metrics to internal and client stakeholders.Deliver monthly patching status reports during governance meetings, highlighting risks, issues, and upcoming schedules.Maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.Collaboration & Continuous ImprovementCollaborate with the Security team to understand vulnerability advisories and priority remediation tasks.Recommend improvements to patching processes, automation, and reporting mechanisms.Ensure all patching-related procedures and runbooks remain up to date.
Required Skills & QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in patching coordination, system administration, or IT ’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.Strong understanding of OS-level patching for:Windows ServerLinux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE)AIXKnowledge of database patching on platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.Experience working with patch management tools (e.g., SCCM/MECM, WSUS, BigFix, Ansible, Satellite, etc.). working experience with tenable and Service now.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret compliance data and generate insightful reports.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple parallel patching activities.
