Overview 
As the Operations Manager, you will ensure site operations at our Burnie Chip Mill run smoothly and efficiently to meet operational objectives. 
Reporting to the Regional Manager - Tasmania, you will be responsible for the management of the site team, production and maintenance schedules, and you will oversee supply chains while promoting a proactive safety culture on a daily basis. 
Responsibilities 
- Co-ordinate and drive the day-to-day operational performance of production shifts. 
Work to meet targets for production, efficiency and quality while operating within allocated budgets. 
- Develop production schedules and ensure the site meets production and recovery targets, as well as safety and quality expectations. 
- Oversee maintenance activities and assist with prioritising maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance planning to sustain maximum production levels. 
- Ensure quality checks and audits are in place across the site. 
Actively monitor results and rectify issues as required. 
- Manage the performance and development of shift personnel and ensure effective coordination between shifts and other sections of the site. 
- Demonstrate leadership through engagement and communication strategies, recognise good performance and address under-performance. 
- Drive a positive safety culture by establishing systems and procedures which are regularly monitored and communicated. 
- Identify HSE issues and hazards, resolve problems and implement corrective actions. 
About You 
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: 
- Significant leadership experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment (timber industry highly preferred). 
- Trade-related qualifications and a mechanical background are highly desirable. 
- Strong organisational and people management skills with a proven ability to lead a team. 
- A proven track record of planning to meet business objectives and deadlines. 
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
