Head of communications

Williamstown
Kinrise
Posted: 14 February
Offer description

Kinrise is a growing, privately owned powerhouse in Australian food manufacturing with some of Australia's most loved and innovative brands. We describe ourselves as a 'start up with scale' and have a burning ambition to grow our business. Formed in 2018 the Kinrise portfolio covers Biscuits, Breakfast, Baking, Bakery, and Snackfood categories and has 40+ years making iconic Australian food, with a rich Australian heritage that's grounded in family origins.

At Kinrise, we're building brands that Australians know and trust. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Head of Communications to lead and shape how we communicate internally and externally across our business in Australia.

Reporting to the General Manager, Legal & Corporate Affairs, this is a standalone senior role, owning delivery end-to-end without direct line management offering full ownership of Kinrise's corporate and internal communications agenda. You'll play a pivotal role in strengthening our corporate reputation, engaging our people, supporting our leaders, and ensuring our stories are told clearly, consistently, and authentically.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing strategy with execution, setting direction, while also rolling up their sleeves to deliver.

What you'll be responsible for

* Owning and delivering Kinrise's internal and external communications strategy, aligned to business and corporate affairs priorities
* Managing media relations, including drafting statements, responding to media enquiries, and partnering with external PR agencies
* Developing and maintaining corporate narratives, key messages, and communication toolkits
* Driving internal communications initiatives, including town halls, leadership messaging, and employee engagement communications
* Supporting communications related to sustainability, quality, safety, and packaging initiatives
* Overseeing consumer complaints communications and managing third-party service providers
* Acting as custodian of Kinrise's corporate website, brand websites, and intranet platforms
* Partnering closely with senior leaders across Marketing, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Quality, Legal, and Research & Development

What we're looking for

* 6 to 8+ years' experience in senior internal and external communications roles
* Proven experience in media relations, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, you're comfortable drafting and owning messaging
* Experience working in consumer-facing or regulated environments (FMCG, food, manufacturing, corporate)
* A hands-on, no-ego leadership style with the ability to operate autonomously
* Strong business acumen and the ability to influence at senior levels
* High-visibility role with direct access to senior leadership
* Opportunity to build and shape the communication plans in a new corporate affairs function
* Values-led organization with strong purpose and culture
* South Yarra head office location

If you're passionate about communications that genuinely make an impact and enjoy working close to the business, apply now.

Kinrise is committed to creating an environment that welcomes all, celebrates our diversity in all its forms and fosters an environment of inclusion. We recognise that our unique differences are what sets us apart and how we succeed as a team. We are an equal opportunity employer.
