Toronto High School is a coeducational comprehensive high school located on Awabakal Country, serving the Toronto community approximately 40 minutes from Newcastle. With an enrolment of around 1,000 students, including 190 Aboriginal students and 10 Inclusive Education classes, the school offers a broad range of educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs, interests and aspirations of its students. Specific Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated expertise and successful experience teaching English Years 7–12, including the capacity to teach Extension 1 and Extension 2 English, with a proven ability to improve student achievement through high-quality teaching, assessment and curriculum leadership.
* Proven capacity to lead a faculty in analysing and responding to student achievement data, implementing evidence-informed teaching practices that improve engagement, growth and academic outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
* Highly developed educational leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build a positive, collaborative and high-performing faculty culture that fosters excellence in teaching, learning and professional practice.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate whole-school literacy improvement, working collaboratively with staff, executive, families and the broader school community to embed consistent literacy practices and targeted strategies that improve reading, writing and communication outcomes for all students.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
