Principal Consultant Asset Management
Contract Rate: $ $ per day (Inc. Super)
Term: 12-Month Contract, with high likelihood of 5+ Year Extensions
Location: Melbourne-Based/Flexible (Remote work dominant, occasional travel required)
The Mission: Transforming Essential Infrastructure
We are seeking an elite, Principal-level Strategic Asset Management Consultant to lead a critical, multi-year transformation for a major Australian Utility/Infrastructure Asset Owner.
This is not a simple gap-fill. You are being engaged to architect the next 5-10 years of asset strategy, governance, and investment. Your success in the initial 12-month contract will directly lead to a long-term mandate to drive the execution of your own strategic blueprint.
Key Responsibilities: The Strategic Mandate
Your initial 12 months will be focused on creating the foundation for future success:
* Strategic Road-Mapping: Design, develop, and deliver the comprehensive 5-10 year Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
* Executive Buy-in: Act as a high-end consultant, securing executive and board approval for the strategy, associated capital expenditure (CAPEX), and operational expenditure (OPEX) models.
* Risk and Governance: Uplift asset criticality and risk frameworks to meet stringent regulatory compliance standards.
* Maturity Uplift: Drive the cultural and systemic transition to achieve global best practice, particularly ISO 55001 alignment.
* Business Translation: Clearly translate complex network requirements (reliability, decarbonisation) into measurable commercial and customer-focused outcomes.
Experience
* Sector Deep Dive: Mandatory deep, demonstrable experience in the Australian Utilities or Heavy Network Infrastructure sectors (e.g., electricity, gas, water, rail).
* Consultancy Calibre: Extensive senior experience gained within a top-tier consultancy or a high-level strategic function within a major asset owner.
* Strategic Gravitas: Proven ability to engage with and influence Director and C-Suite level stakeholders, presenting clear, compelling commercial arguments.
* Contract Mindset: Proven ability to deliver against a defined scope as an independent contractor, with a track record of securing long-term strategic implementation mandates.
* Flexibility: Must be based in or near Melbourne to easily facilitate the occasional, essential travel required for executive and team workshops.
If you thrive on translating multi-billion dollar asset portfolios into clear, defensible, long-term strategies, this is your next challenge.
