Overview

Staff Specialist - Anatomical Pathology – NSW Health Pathology (eCred). NSW Health Pathology is coordinating a state-wide joint recruitment process for all Staff Specialist vacancies in Anatomical Pathology. Candidates apply once to be considered for all vacancies listed below. There are 13.3 FTE Staff Specialist vacancies advertised as part of this state-wide process. All positions are Permanent.

Positions may be Full Time or Part Time. Where a Full Time position is advertised, appointments on a fractional basis may be negotiated between the candidates, Clinical Directors and Directors of Operations. Applications for the position will be received via eCredential only.

About NSW Health Pathology

NSW Health Pathology is the largest Anatomical Pathology public service provider in Australia, employing over 160 Anatomical Pathologists across the State. The team provides diagnostic, consultative and on-call services, including Histopathology, Cytopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Molecular Pathology and a statewide non-coronial autopsy service. Pathologists participate in multidisciplinary meetings, teaching, and research, with affiliations to universities.

Selection Criteria

* Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Anatomical Pathology, and/or other specialist recognition. Applicants expected to receive Fellowship by February 2026 are encouraged to apply.
* Commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with effective communication and adaptability.
* Demonstrated personal qualities including motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
* Commitment to clinical quality management, continuous improvement and knowledge of NPAAC Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
* Contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise in Anatomical Pathology, including subspecialty expertise or willingness to undertake subspecialisation.

This is a Category A position. New recruits must comply with Policy Directive PD2024_015 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases and provide evidence at appointment. NSW Health does not require or accept the "Fit2Work badge" option on eCredential. Eligibility for permanent appointment requires Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
