We're pleased to be partnering with a global infrastructure investor and their local platform in the search for a Commercial Analyst to join their growing Australian team. This role offers the chance to work across a diverse renewable energy portfolio, with exposure to greenfield development, project financing, and long-term asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modelling and Analysis
* Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models - including debt financing - to assess project economics, feasibility, and return on investment for large-scale solar energy projects.
* Analyse financial data, market trends, and economic indicators to support strategic decision-making.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate technical, commercial, and operational inputs into financial models.
Investment Analysis
* Evaluate potential investment opportunities across renewable energy, including M&A, joint ventures, and partnerships.
* Conduct due diligence and financial risk assessments to test the viability and expected returns of projects and transactions.
Financial Reporting and Forecasting
* Update financial models with new energy forecasts to produce variance analysis, financial statements, cash flow projections, and performance reports.
* Support the development team with investment presentations and reporting for boards and investors.
Scenario Analysis and Sensitivity Testing
* Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of external factors on project performance.
* Provide clear recommendations to optimise profitability and mitigate risk
Skills and Experience Required
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline (postgraduate study such as MBA/MS Finance highly regarded).
* 3+ years' relevant experience in financial modelling, analysis, and reporting - ideally within the renewable energy or infrastructure sector.
* Proven experience building and managing complex financial models for large-scale projects.
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling tools.
* Strong grasp of investment appraisal techniques, financial risk assessment, and sensitivity testing.
* Analytical and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
* Strong communicator with the ability to convey complex financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
* Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work both independently and within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
