Pride in Place is a vital role that requires a compassionate and skilled worker to support individuals, couples, and families from the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. They will conduct comprehensive assessments with LGBTQIA+ clients, providing accurate and relevant information on topics such as housing options, tenancy legislation, and allied service systems.
* Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments with LGBTQIA+ clients, focusing on lived experiences, identified strengths and risks, and personal goals.
2. Provide up-to-date information on housing options, tenancy laws, and related service systems.
3. Advocate for clients when interacting with real estate agents and housing providers.
4. Coordinate crisis accommodation using resources such as the Housing Establishment Fund (HEF) and Private Rental Brokerage.
5. Complete referrals and support clients to navigate various service systems and access suitable services.
6. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including community agencies and government services, as directed by the Program Coordinator and Principal Practitioner.
7. Maintain knowledge of local community agencies, including eligibility criteria, referral pathways, and available resources.
8. Stay informed about LGBTQIA+-affirming housing providers and mainstream housing providers.
