The Withcott Hotel is a well-known country pub located at the foot of the Toowoomba Range, offering a relaxed bar and bistro atmosphere with quality meals, entertainment, and functions for locals and travellers alike. The venue serves lunch and dinner daily and is building a strong reputation for great food and hospitality.
Due to business growth, we are currently seeking two experienced and motivated Chefs to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
Position Details
* Position: Chef (2 Positions)
* Employment Type: Full-time (38 hours per week)
* Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
* Location: Withcott Hotel, Withcott QLD
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will perform duties consistent with the role of Chef, including but not limited to:
* Planning menus and assisting in developing new dishes in consultation with management.
* Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with ordering and stock control.
* Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation.
* Preparing and cooking a wide range of meals in accordance with menu specifications.
* Ensuring all food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
* Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff.
* Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, workplace safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
* Managing food preparation, portion control, and minimizing wastage.
* Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and kitchen procedures.
* Assisting with kitchen operations during busy service periods, functions, and special events.
Essential Requirements
* Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) – compulsory.
* Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Chef.
* Hotel or pub kitchen experience is preferred for the minimum 2 years of chef experience.
* Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and food safety practices.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
* Sponsorship is available for candidates who do not have Australian work rights.
Desirable Attributes
* Experience working in a hotel, pub, or bistro environment.
* Passion for delivering high-quality meals and maintaining consistency in food service.
* Ability to supervise and train junior kitchen staff when required.
* Creativity in menu development and presentation.
