Overview
The School Liaison is responsible for building strong relationships with schools throughout the Recent Vista region by establishing, enhancing, maintaining and adapting engagement to create pipelines into care. The School Liaison is a problem solver connected to school systems to holistically assess, link and/or provide direct clinical services through assessment, care, and treatment of children and youth in need of behavioral health services. This role is innovative and finds ways to make the right level of care accessible to individuals and school communities. The School Liaison is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.
Required Education And Experience
Master's Degree in marriage and family therapy, professional counseling, psychology, social work or closely related field
Licensure from Kentucky licensing board
Valid driver's license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance
Preferred Education And Experience
Independent licensure from Kentucky licensing board
Experience working with schools or youth services
Essential Functions

Promote New Vista's services to schools throughout the region
Identify school systems in need of partnerships and establish links to New Vista services
Communicate and collaborate with schools in receiving, processing, and initiating referrals for clinical services to be provided within school, outpatient settings and in the community
Create MOAs and business agreements with schools
Operate as an ambassador of New Vista, connecting schools and community partners to services within the clinic as well as throughout the organization (e.g. crisis, SUD, IDD, SMI, primary care and housing and employment services)
When establishing relationships with schools, providing continuity of care when a school-based/child clinician leaves or as needed, provide direct clinical services for intake, screening, and referral services, deliver evidenced based counseling that provides effective and medically necessary treatment of children and families
Manage situations involving client risk and provide clinical crisis services to de-escalate crisis situations and promote stability
Continue to stay up-to-date with evidence based practices for children and transition age youth, acting as a resource to the organization
Deliver services primarily in school setting or where necessary to meet client needs
Utilize PCOMS in assessments and clinical treatment episodes
Evaluate the effectiveness of New Vista's presence within and connected to schools, creatively addressing barriers to identifying, linking and accessing appropriate level of care as well as creating programming that is financially sustainable
Understand billing for CCBHC, Medicare and private insurance providers to inform strategy behind creating and maintaining school-based services
Encourage collaboration and whole person care, facilitating appropriate referrals to services for therapy, psychiatric care, IDD needs, primary care, intensive SUD treatment as well as social determinant needs
