Critical Care Tech | MGH - Intensive Care Unit
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration measurements.
Essential Functions
1. Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs accurately and within the required timeframes.
2. Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
3. Interacts effectively with patients and their families.
4. Assists patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
5. Helps patients turn, reposition, and transfer between bed and wheelchair as needed.
6. Reports patients' health concerns to nurses.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. This role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.
Licenses and Credentials
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - preferred from various issuers.
* Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) - preferred from various issuers.
* Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (Massachusetts) - preferred from Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services.
* Nursing Assistant (LNA - Massachusetts) - preferred from Massachusetts Board of Nursing.
Experience
1-2 years of experience in patient or elder care preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Strong patient/customer service skills.
* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
* Proficient in electronic medical records and computer skills.
