The role & you
You might not have considered a career in the water industry before but it's a pathway full of opportunity, security, and purpose. Across Australia and right here in our local community, skilled professionals are needed to keep water and sewer services running smoothly and you could be one of them.
As a Trainee, you'll be part of a dedicated team delivering high-quality water and sewer services to homes and businesses. You'll also play a role in protecting the environment by helping treat wastewater safely and effectively.
What You'll Learn
* How to repair water mains and replace valves
* Maintenance of sewer pump stations
* Responding to emergency situations
* Using IT systems to monitor operations
* Recording data and system readings for water and sewer networks
By the end of your Traineeship, you'll have a nationally recognised Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and valuable hands-on experience in a specialised, high-demand field.
We're Looking For Someone Who
* Has a genuine interest in working in Council's water and sewer department
* Is motivated to grow their career in this essential industry
* Can show dedication and reliability through previous study or work
* Holds at least a P1 driver's licence

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you'll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component)
Salary: The salary for this traineeship ranges from approximately $31,288 to $53,196 p.a. in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Your salary will be determined based on your age, qualifications, and any previous work experience. Superannuation (12%) is additional.
An allowance of $95.34 per week will also apply. (Trainee Water Allowance)
Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council Taree Water Services Depot, Muldoon Street. You will also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Full-time 38 hours per week over a 24-month period.
