Primary objective
Coordinate and deliver infrastructure, facilities and grounds maintenance across George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens
(GBDBG), while providing practical operational support to horticulture programs including weeds management, through a
hands-on and solutions-focused approach.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Conduct regular inspections of facilities, infrastructure and grounds to identify maintenance requirements, safety risks
and operational priorities.
2. Undertake hands-on maintenance, repair, irrigation support and minor landscaping works within skill and capacity.
3. Support the delivery of weed management activities across the site in collaboration with the Curator Manager and Lead
Horticulturists, including monitoring, treatment and record keeping.
4. Provide onsite liaison for Urgent Minor Repairs (UMR) and other contractor works delivered through DLI, assisting with
site access, supervision and operational requirements.
5. Provide practical operational support to key horticulture projects.
6. Manage the key and lock register and support site security processes.
7. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements across infrastructure
and weed management-related activities.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in facilities, grounds or infrastructure maintenance, including weed management and minor
works.
2. Practical experience undertaking hands-on maintenance and grounds-based activities, with the ability to support
horticultural operations and projects.
3. Ability to coordinate and deliver routine maintenance and operational tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
4. Sound problem-solving, organisational and record-keeping skills, including the ability to identify risks and escalate issues
appropriately.
5. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
6. NT Driver Licence (Class C) or ability to obtain one.

The position is required to work occasional weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis and, as a full-time role, is
eligible for Northern Territory Government Public Duty Allowance (PDO) entitlements in accordance with applicable
agreements.
