KPE - Kelly Precision Engineering are seeking a full-time Machine Shop Supervisor for an immediate start to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality machined parts to support our expanding business.
KPE are based in Albury, NSW. and have been operating its Machining & Steel Fabrication Workshop for over 30 years, where we have built up a loyal customer base.
The Machine Shop Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the workshop. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure the production of high-quality components. You will supervise a team of machinists, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and maintain efficient workflow throughout the workshop. Working on a range of products from one off parts to small batch production runs.
About the Role
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
* Production planning & material ordering.
* Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings and Specifications to undertake CNC-ISO Programming.
* Operate all types of machine shop equipment including CNC Lathes & Machining Centers.
* Follow detailed systems and procedures
* Staff training
* Perform necessary maintenance and cleaning on equipment
* Inspecting final products to ensure specifications are met
* Maintain company safety guidelines
* 38-hour week - Monday - Thursday 7am - 3.30pm - Friday 7am -1.00pm
* Occasional overtime may be required to meet customer deadlines.
For this role you should possess:
* The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising technical staff.
* Ensure the attention to detail and be able to perform quality checks on all items.
* Maintain a safe and organised work environment
* The ability to evaluate and improve CNC machining processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
About You
Along with a strong work ethic and previous experience with operating CNC Lathes and Machining Centers, you'll have the following attributes:
* Sound knowledge of machine tools and job setup
* Experience of lean manufacturing and cycle time reduction
* Display an understanding of Workplace Health and Safety
* Proficient in AutoCAD
* Experience with SolidWorks & using CAD CAM programming would be an advantage.
