Make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care by providing emotional support through our foster/kinship program. As a casual youth worker, you will be part of a team that helps these individuals build positive relationships and overcome life challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular supervision and observation of contact with family members, including participating in activities both within and outside the agency premises.
* Support children and young people who have experienced trauma, thereby requiring complex needs and challenging behaviors.
* Maintain accurate records of work undertaken and provide these as required in a timely manner, adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
About You
* A valid Queensland driver's license is necessary.
* Possessing a Certificate III in Children's Services or equivalent qualifications/training in youth or social care is beneficial.
* Previous experience working directly with children/young people, especially teenagers, in the care system or similar field is desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children exhibiting trauma-related challenging behaviors.
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation governing children's services is essential.
* Skillful communication, both verbal and written, with diverse staff at all levels, recognizing potential language barriers and cultural differences.
* A Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain one is mandatory.
