The Disability Support workers are responsible for providing high-quality, person-centered support to Elderly & individuals with disabilities in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) standards. This role involves assisting clients in achieving their personal goals, enhancing their quality of life, and fostering independence within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
* Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, household chores, and medication management.
* Help clients with mobility and transferring, ensuring their comfort and safety.
* Facilitate and encourage client participation in community activities, social events, and recreational programs.
* Support clients in building and maintaining social relationships and networks.
* Assist clients in accessing community resources, including transport and local services.
* Monitor and review client progress, making adjustments to support plans as required.
* Empower clients to make informed choices and decisions regarding their care and support.
* Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients, fostering positive mental health and well-being.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Education: Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or related field (essential). Additional qualifications in specialised areas are advantageous.
* Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Preferred with non verbal and cerebral palsy.
* Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
* Demonstrated understanding of person-centered care and NDIS standards.
* Other Requirements:
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Working with Children Check, NDIS Screening check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
* Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle may be required depending on the role's location.
