We are seeking an experienced and motivated Policy Lead to join a high-performing regulatory team responsible for delivering environmental and regulatory outcomes across Victoria. Reporting to the Team Leader, Operating Licences, you will play a key role in implementing and continuously improving a permissioning framework that supports the assessment, approval, and regulation of activities with potential environmental impacts. This position offers the prospect to contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes while working within a collaborative and forward-thinking regulatory environment. It is a 6 months contract role.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement and administer regulatory permissioning frameworks, ensuring applications and approvals are assessed in accordance with relevant legislation and policy.
* Contribute to licence review programs and support the ongoing improvement of regulatory processes, procedures, and business systems.
* Develop, maintain, and enhance operational policies, procedures, and condition libraries.
* Participate in the review of licences and permissions to ensure appropriate controls and regulatory outcomes are achieved.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives through process reviews, performance analysis, reporting, and development of training materials.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience working in a regulatory, compliance, environmental, planning, licensing, or government environment.
* Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks and the ability to interpret and apply legislation in practical situations.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Planning, Law, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Experience within a government regulator or statutory authority.
* Knowledge of environmental protection, pollution prevention, waste management, or development assessment processes.
