About This Opportunity This is an excellent internal opportunity to provide high level management advisory, administrative and project support to the development and operational management of research and related engagement within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law. You will work closely with researchers in the faculty as well as with the Associate Dean (Research) and other members of the Faculty Research Office. Key responsibilities will include: Work closely with the Associate Dean, Research and research staff on strategic initiatives to enhance the research and commercialisation profile of the Faculty. Coordinate a range of activities of the Faculty Research Office in creating a network which encourages cooperation, discussion and debate among researchers and builds a sense of collaborative research across the Faculty, University and the broader academic community. Oversee the compilation and analysis of research data and metrics relevant to faculty research, contracts, commercialisation and innovation initiatives. Provide accurate and timely advice to researchers in relation to current grants and future funding opportunities (including eligibility, compliance and process advice) and develop operational systems to support researchers in attracting external research funding across the Faculty. Develop and manage the Internal Grants Assessment Processes. Oversee the development of the Major Funding and Fellowship calendar, including the administration of each stage of the funding process. Effectively manage and oversee the administration of grant application rounds, including major national competitive grant scheme and the Faculty's readership scheme. Organisation of seminar and workshop programs for HDR students and staff as related to major funding. Liaise with the International, Marketing and Advancement functions of the Faculty to ensure research activity is guided by, and contributes to, the University's research and engagement agenda. In conjunction with the relevant Research Commercial Management Unit, manage the coordination of research contracts (e.g., ARC Linkage Projects) and consultancy contracts through the UQ Legal Office or Research Legal Services and with other parties involved. Provide advice to researchers on these processes, as required. Provide advice to key sections of the Faculty, such as Human Resources and Finance concerning grant management and policy changes. Manage and report on research progress to the Faculty's Research Committee, particularly in relation to KPIs. Other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor. This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to August 2026 at HEW Level 8. About You A degree with at least five (5) years subsequent relevant experience in contract administration, research administration or business management environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training; Postgraduate qualifications would be highly regarded. Demonstrated understanding of the research environment and funding imperatives for Australian universities or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge; general understanding of the commercialisation, internationalisation and external relations environment at the University of Queensland would also be advantageous Substantial administration and project management experience, preferably within a university or research environment, including the capacity to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Advanced knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of university administrative procedures as they relate to research and engagement. Substantial experience in database research, retrieval, analysis and reporting skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills at all levels with a demonstrated ability to build positive, lasting client relationships. Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to prioritise and meet varying deadlines with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail. Self-motivated, resilient and solution focused with the ability to deliver outcomes through effective team and individual work. Broad understanding of agreements and the capacity to negotiate contracts for research and consulting projects.
