Support student success in Central Queensland - join the team at Glenmore State School.

Glenmore State School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Guidance Officer (0.6 FTE) to join our dynamic Student Support and Wellbeing Team.

You will work collaboratively to provide targeted support for students and help drive our inclusive, student-centred approach to wellbeing and engagement. Your contribution will be critical to ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn every day.

This is a temporary full-time position for the remainder of Semester 2, until 12 December 2025, with possibility of extension.

About The Role

As Guidance Officer (0.6 FTE), you will:


* Play a key role in supporting student wellbeing and engagement through individual support, team collaboration and whole-school initiatives
* Provide counselling and support for students with social, emotional, behavioural or academic needs
* Collaborate with the Student Support and Wellbeing Team to design and implement proactive, targeted initiatives
* Engage with families, staff and external agencies to coordinate support and build strong partnerships
* Conduct assessments and contribute to personalised student planning
* Participate in case management, school-based support meetings and referral processes
* Champion a safe, respectful and inclusive school culture aligned with the school's values

Essential Requirements
* Current Queensland teacher registration and relevant Guidance Officer qualifications (or commitment to completing)
* Experience in student support or counselling within a school setting
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and complex student needs
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and follow through on support plans

Desirable Experience
* Familiarity with the Berry Street Education Model, Zones of Regulation or Smiling Mind practices
* Confidence using OneSchool and Department of Education systems
* Experience working in diverse and complex school communities
* Knowledge of student protection, critical incident response and proactive wellbeing planning
* Ability to conduct assessments of students to inform tailored support and intervention strategies.
