About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is currently looking for individuals to join our Perioperative team as Theatre Orderlies. We have exciting opportunities available, including Permanent Full/ Part Time positions at our Pimlico campus and Casual positions at our Hyde Park campus. This role plays a crucial role in supporting our daily operations where successful candidates must be available to work between the hours of 6:30AM - 9:00PM Monday - Friday.

Salary range: $32.02 – $34.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits

What you'll be doing

The Theatre Orderly is responsible for assisting with the transportation of patients throughout the hospital pre and post surgery. Assisting nurses and doctors with manual handling of patients, setting up and cleaning of medical equipment and medical gases. All transport will be onsite across both Townsville Mater Hospitals

* Attending regular staff meetings and trainings
* Patient transfers and delivering excellent customer service and patient care
* Perform required tasks under the direction of medical and nursing staff.
* Equipment auditing
* Clean contaminated equipment and other used items as required.
* Assist with basic patient care as requested under supervision of nursing staff.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

* A high level of understanding of infection control procedures and processes
* Experience working as an Orderly within a hospital setting (desirable not essential)
* Effective communication and ability to understand instructions
* Effective organisational skills and time management
* Ability to work without supervision and within a team environment.
* Ability to demonstrates correct techniques of patient lifting, moving and transportation.
* Physically fit and enjoy a fast-paced working environment
