What We Need: To thrive in this role you must have excellent writing and communication skills, sound news judgment and a keen attention to detail, combined with a strong sense of urgency, an ability to multi-task and a thorough grasp of online content distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
* Source, write, and publish original stories for the website.
* Utilize social media for both story discovery and promotion.
* Produce engaging video content for digital platforms.
* Apply news judgment and use analytical tools to maximize story visibility.
* Write and edit content, including headlines, captions, and embedded media.
* Support the Online Editor in guiding the daily content direction.
* Maintain awareness of legal and ethical issues in reporting.
* Represent the company professionally and courteously in all interactions.
* Continuously upskill and stay updated with technology and digital trends.
* Work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
* Conduct professional and thorough interviews.
What You Bring:
* A journalism degree and experience working within the media industry.
* A strong work ethic and a healthy level of initiative
* A high level of literacy and attention to detail
* Good interview and communication skills
* The ability to work autonomously under high pressure.
* Flexibility in a seven-day newsroom - including weekend shifts - and the ability to work later in the day.
