Duration: Approx. 12 months with potential to extend
Pay rate: $63.93 – $71.60 per hour plus 12% superannuation
Security requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
Citizenship requirements: Must be an Australian citizen at time of application
Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced APS6 Data Analyst to join a high-performing data and analytics team within a federal government environment. The role focuses on delivering complex data analytics and modelling to support research evaluation, policy development and organisational decision-making.
The successful candidate will work across a range of data-driven projects, contributing to advanced statistical analysis, forecasting and the development of data visualisations and reporting products. You will collaborate with technical specialists and stakeholders to deliver high-quality insights and support the ongoing enhancement of enterprise data capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality data analysis, interpretation, and quality assurance of datasets
* Design and implement data collection, management, and analysis processes
* Develop reports, dashboards, and visualisations for a variety of audiences
* Deliver clear and concise written outputs, including reports and briefs
* Provide technical advice on data analytics tools, methodologies, and best practices
* Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement of data processes
* Support data governance initiatives and infrastructure enhancements
* Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions
Experience/requirements
* Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, tools such as SQL Server, Python, and Power BI
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesise information from multiple data sources
* Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
* Experience preparing high-quality written reports and documentation
* Understanding of data analytics techniques, visualisation, and reporting principles
* Desirable: Experience with machine learning techniques (e.g. text classification using Python)
