The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking an exceptional Divisional Director (Nursing and Midwifery) to guide our Women and Children's Division—a division at the heart of care for the fastest-growing population in the state.

This is your opportunity to influence nursing and midwifery excellence across a diverse and innovative portfolio of services, including obstetrics, gynaecology, midwifery group practice, birthing centre, Aboriginal birthing program, mother carer services, paediatrics, and perinatal mental health, delivered through Lyell McEwin Hospital, Modbury Hospital, community centres, and GP Plus facilities. From high-risk pregnancy clinics and birth centres to special care nurseries and child development services, our teams are committed to best practice, research leadership, and cutting‐edge models of care.

About the Role

In this pivotal senior leadership role, working in partnership with the Medical Divisional Director, you will lead the strategic direction and operational management of nursing and midwifery services, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Your exceptional leadership skills, coupled with a deep understanding of best practice care for women and children, will inspire your team to deliver safe, high‐quality, compassionate and evidence-based care, whilst building strong high-performing teams.

Your ability to navigate complex healthcare environments, build effective partnerships and drive positive change will be instrumental in achieving outstanding patient outcomes.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and/or Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate, with at least 5 years post‐registration experience.

About You

You are an inspiring and strategic highly experienced nursing and/or midwifery leader with a passion for delivering excellence and shaping the future of women's and children's health. You thrive in complex, dynamic environments and have the vision and capability to lead large multidisciplinary teams through innovation and change.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

* Professional credibility as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with current registration (or eligibility) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Extensive leadership experience, including at least five years post‐registration and proven success in senior clinical leadership roles within acute and primary health care settings.
* Exceptional management and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders and lead diverse teams to achieve best practice outcomes.
* Strategic thinking and innovation, demonstrated through experience in service planning, workforce reform and implementing new models of care.
* Financial and resource management expertise, ensuring accountability and efficiency in a large, complex division.
* Commitment to quality and safety, with a track record of driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of patient‐centred care.
* Flexibility and resilience, enabling you to navigate change and deliver results in an environment of evolving priorities.

Desirable attributes include postgraduate qualifications in nursing and/or midwifery, health services management or health administration, and experience in research, education and policy development.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services

Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north‐east for emergency care, complex and multi‐day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.

Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub‐acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.

Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.

Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.

Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.

Checks

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.

* DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC)
* National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
