Executive Director, Strategy and Compliance

* Total Remuneration Package starting from $303,582 to $341,001
Your role
The Executive Director, Strategy and Compliance provides senior executive leadership across Corrective Services NSW's (CSNSW) strategic policy, planning, compliance and program development functions. This role shapes the long‑term vision for CSNSW, leading the development of evidence‑based strategies, policies, practice standards and programs that support rehabilitation, reintegration and reduced reoffending. As a key advisor to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, Strategy and Governance, you will drive strategic planning, system‑wide governance, project prioritisation and continuous improvement across the organisation.
What you'll do
As the Executive Director, Strategy and Compliance you will:
* Lead and direct Sentence Management, the State Parole Authority, Strategy, the EPMO, and Assurance and Program Development, ensuring effective, safe and integrated operations.
* Provide high‑level strategic advice to the Commissioner and Senior Executives, shaping CSNSW's strategic direction, policy agenda and organisational priorities.
* Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based offender programs, interventions and practice standards to support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.
* Direct policy research, analysis and response to highly complex and politically sensitive issues, ensuring decisions are grounded in evidence and aligned with Government expectations.
* Lead the development of the CSNSW strategic planning and reporting framework, ensuring strong alignment across all divisions.
* Oversee the EPMO to ensure effective project prioritisation, governance, monitoring, delivery and risk management across CSNSW's project portfolio.
* Drive the design and implementation of a case management framework that supports consistent, integrated and rehabilitative management of people in custody and under supervision.
* Identify opportunities for system improvement, innovation and service transformation to enhance organisational performance and offender outcomes.
* Build capability across strategy, planning and compliance functions through leadership, coaching and continuous improvement.
* Manage significant budgets and resources to ensure effective delivery of strategic, policy and program outcomes.

What we're looking for
* A senior executive with extensive experience in strategic policy, planning, governance or compliance within a large, complex organisation.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver organisation‑wide strategies, programs or reforms with long‑term system impact.
* Strong capability in analysing complex policy issues, shaping responses and providing authoritative advice to Ministers and senior executives.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and major organisational functions such as planning, parole, program design or project management.
* Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence outcomes across government and the justice sector.
* Proven ability to manage major budgets, drive performance and lead continuous improvement and organisational change.
* A values‑driven leader committed to safety, integrity, accountability and evidence‑based practice.

We manage inmates in custody and supervise offenders in the community, working closely with courts, releasing authorities and partner agencies to support rehabilitation, reintegration and community safety.
