Primary objective
Provide a high-quality and confidential ministerial liaison service to the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet (CM&C;) and
its Ministers and assist in meeting the agency’s whole-of-government coordination and reporting obligations.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Receive, record and process ministerial and Cabinet correspondence between CM&C; and its Ministers in a timely and accurate
manner.
2. Assist in meeting CM&C;’s executive reporting obligations by coordinating and maintaining records on the Statutory Boards and
Committees database, as well as managing CM&C;’s ministerial correspondence records system and providing regular reports
to the CM&C; Executive on due and overdue ministerial correspondence.
3. Assist in finalising CM&C;’s ministerial correspondence to a high standard of presentation, checking grammar, spelling,
adherence to appropriate standards and formatting requirements.
4. Provide advice and assistance to CM&C;’s officers in relation to Ministerial correspondence and related documents and
processes.
5. Provide a high quality, effective and timely liaison service between CM&C; and the Ministers’ offices and other NT Government
agencies and maintain strong working relationships.
6. Assist in coordinating the timely provision of CM&C; comments on draft Cabinet Submissions received from NT Government
agencies, maintaining associated records.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of ministerial correspondence and executive government (i.e. Cabinet and parliamentary) requirements, processes
and procedures within a government setting, or ability to quickly obtain.
2. A good standard of written and oral communication skills, including good proofreading abilities, alongside a high standard of
word processing skills (with attention to accuracy, formatting and document presentation) and experience in data entry and
database management.
3. Organisational and administrative skills of a high order, with valuable attention to detail and ability to deal appropriately with
confidential and sensitive issues and documents.
4. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy Executive environment, with initiative and limited supervision as part of a small team to
effectively manage a range of tasks with changing priorities.
5. Ability to relate to staff at all levels, including interacting effectively with people from different cultures.
Desirable
1. Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
