Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Process Safety Specialist to join our team. This key role will play a vital part in implementing and managing process safety systems, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and seamless collaboration across teams.
The successful candidate will develop, implement, and maintain the Pacific Energy Process Safety Management framework, provide expert guidance on critical control verification, lead and oversee hazard and operability studies (HAZOPs), layer of protection analysis, Bowtie Analysis, failure modes effects analysis, and other risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities.
This role requires a strong understanding of process safety management principles, risk assessment methodologies, and barrier management techniques. The ideal candidate will have a degree in chemical, process, or mechanical engineering, or a related field, along with extensive experience in process safety management across mining, oil & gas, chemicals, or heavy industry.
The successful candidate will be skilled at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, experienced in incident investigation, auditing, and safety performance reporting, and possess strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and Implement Process Safety Framework: Develop, implement, and maintain the Pacific Energy Process Safety Management framework.
* Provide Expert Guidance: Provide expert guidance on critical control verification.
* Lead Hazard and Operability Studies: Lead and oversee HAZOPs, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis, FMEA, and other risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities.
* Oversee Major Hazard Identification: Oversee major hazard identification and ensure compliance.
* Document Process Safety Risks: Document process safety risks, update the risk register, and implement mitigation strategies.
* Conduct Audits and Inspections: Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify improvements.
* Investigate Process Safety Incidents: Lead and investigate process safety incidents, determine root causes, and apply corrective actions.
* Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyse trends and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement.
* Deliver Process Safety Training: Deliver process safety training programs for leadership, engineering, and operational teams.
Requirements:
* Degree in chemical, process, or mechanical engineering, or a related field.
* Extensive experience in process safety management across mining, oil & gas, chemicals, or heavy industry.
* Strong expertise in PSM frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and barrier management principles.
* Proven ability to lead HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis, and safety case development.
* Skilled at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
* Experienced in incident investigation, auditing, and safety performance reporting.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
