Community Development Role
This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the community by reducing alcohol and drug-related harm and strengthening community wellbeing. The role involves working closely with grassroots sports organisations, leagues, and associations to implement evidence-based programs that promote wellbeing and reduce harm.
We are seeking a passionate Community Development Officer to play a key role in supporting community organisations, with a particular focus on sporting clubs and local initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a team to deliver prevention programs effectively and in line with national priorities
* Build and maintain partnerships with local government, community organisations, health services, and sporting bodies
* Oversee planning, monitoring, and reporting of program outcomes
* Support staff recruitment, professional development, and performance management
* Represent programs at events, forums, and community workshops
Requirements:
* Degree qualification in health promotion, community development, social sciences, or a related field
* Experience leading and delivering community-based health or prevention programs
* Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, partnerships, and community consultation
* Proven ability to manage teams, set priorities, and achieve program outcomes
* Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills
* Willingness to travel within ACT and occasionally interstate
