About you

You hold a tertiary qualification in Children's Services (or a related discipline) or bring equivalent, hands‑on experience and have worked meaningfully with Aboriginal children and families, understanding the cultural contexts and respect that such work requires. You are deeply knowledgeable about child development, including the ways abuse and trauma can affect young people, and have developed and applied strategies to support children with challenging and difficult behaviours. You are passionate about designing and leading high‑quality activities that are well matched to children's age and stage of development, fostering their growth across emotional, social, physical and cognitive domains.

Safety and wellbeing are central to all you do : you maintain a child‑safe environment, follow workplace health & safety policies, and supervise with vigilance, sensitivity and care. You are empathetic and respectful, with a demonstrated understanding of the issues that impact people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. You are patient, resilient and flexible, able to stay calm, focused and responsive in emotionally demanding situations while maintaining strong communication with children, carers, parents and colleagues.

It would be advantageous if you also have experience supporting families facing complex challenges, such as mental illness, substance abuse, family violence, involvement with child protection or caring for children with disabilities and if you bring knowledge of trauma‑informed practices or lived experience that enriches your ability to relate with and support children in vulnerable situations.
