We are currently seeking a Panel Beater to join our well-established business.
Main responsibilities & duties include:
* Removing and replacing all required components from vehicles to facilitate repairs.
* Competently and safely use, adjust and maintain all hand and power tools required to complete repairs to damaged vehicles as per vehicle manufacturer's recommendations and SOP.
* Straightening damaged vehicles and parts using mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
* Replacing badly damaged sections with new or second-hand panels.
* Filling depressions with plastic filler and filing, grinding and sanding the repaired surface.
* Cutting and joining the replacement sections and panels using welding equipment.
* Fitting repaired or replacement panels on vehicles and refitting body hardware such as door locks and trims.
* Colour match and spray paint.
* Assist vehicle body builders in constructing and restoring custom designed, vintage and other specialty vehicles.
* Reinstalling damaged fabric, leather and vinyl.
* Competently and safely prepare and sand repairs ready for painting processes as per paint manufacturer's recommendations and SOP.
* Understand that workplace safety and company regulations are a condition of employment.
* Adhere to the company policies, procedures and standards.
* Maintain work area, tools, equipment and PPE in clean and safe condition.
* Ensure maintenance and safety programs are implemented.
* Alert the Productions Manger to any unusual problems or major additional in parts/labour or change in repair method.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualifications: At least trade qualifications in panel beating or similar field.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a panel beater.
Skills: Ability to read wire drawings and schematics.
Expertise in working with a wide range of power and hand tools is a necessity.
Knowledge of parts and mechanical systems in preferred.
Knowledge of various techniques such as filling and refinishing surfaces, bending metal, parts replacement and automobile painting.
