About the opportunity
This is a maximum six-month (6) fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension. The role is 38 hours per week; however, we are open to flexible working arrangements, including school hours or other varied hours.
This is an onsite position based at our Head Office on Faulkner Street, Armidale NSW.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Officer will be responsible for (but not limited to):
* Completing daily bank reconciliations.
* Processing month-end journals to support accurate financial reporting.
* Assisting with the month-end close process, reporting, and general ledger reconciliations.
* Providing backup support to the commercial payroll team to ensure continuity of payroll operations.
* Preparing and assisting with both internal and external audit activities.
* Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks as required.
We are looking for someone who brings:
* A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
* A relevant qualification in finance or accounting.
* A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* The ability to work well within a team and collaborate across the organisation.
* Strong organisational and planning skills to manage competing priorities.
* Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable (but not essential)
* Previous payroll experience, including interpretation and application of multiple Awards, EBAs, and EAs.
* Working towards a CPA, CA, CMA.
* Strong Excel skills, particularly for reporting and data analysis.
* Experience using accounting software such as MYOB or similar systems.
