About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our dynamic team as a Treasury Graduate. As a Treasury Graduate, you will have access to rewarding career opportunities in a central agency of the Australian Government, exposure to meaningful work in several areas of the department, and the opportunity to work on policies that shape the economic landscape.

Our program is designed for university students who have graduated in the last 5 years. Graduates must be willing to work for the government of the day and be curious and driven to work on topics that will directly make a difference to Australians.

We offer opportunities to graduates from a range of disciplines including law, economics, econometrics, public policy, political science, data and statistics, mathematics, business, commerce, and finance.

As a Treasury Graduate, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive and collaborative environment. You will work closely with experienced professionals and have access to bespoke development opportunities, including university-facilitated workshops and face-to-face development programs.

In addition to academic qualifications, we are looking for graduates with strong analytical thinking and collaborative skills, who are flexible, curious, and resilient, and eager to develop their written and communication skills.

Program Overview

Our graduate program runs for 2 years with 3 rotations in different work areas, allowing you to gain experience across the department. Work placements are based on your skills, academic qualifications, and portfolio responsibilities. You will complete several face-to-face development opportunities over the 2 years.

Most of our graduates are based in our Canberra office, however those already residing in Sydney and Melbourne may have the opportunity to secure one of the limited places in one of the state offices, with occasional travel to Canberra.

Benefits

In addition to our learning and development opportunities, we offer a range of benefits, including:

* A competitive starting salary and pay-point progression as your capabilities develop
* Access to unique and highly rewarding networking experiences and events
* Flexible working arrangements and work from home options in agreement with your manager and team requirements
* An Annual Lifestyle Contribution allowance of $600 to help maintain a healthy lifestyle
* Access to a graduate buddy who has completed the program
* An inclusive and diverse workplace which celebrates and recognises all staff's backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences
* Relocation assistance for eligible graduates

What We're Looking For

We are looking for graduates who are:

* Australian citizens or become an Australian citizen by December 2026
* Hold an Australian-recognised undergraduate qualification (bachelor's degree or higher), completed, or to be completed within the last 5 years
* Performed well in their studies to ensure they are competitive in the selection process

We value diversity in our teams and believe it enhances our creativity, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.
