Overview

Brisbane School of Distance Education has an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to join the team. This role supports the delivery of engaging science learning by assisting with the preparation of resources, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.

Applicants that are flexible with change, willing to be part of a supportive and high achieving team, and engage with the fundamental beliefs of the school are encouraged to apply. This position is being offered in a Permanent Part‐Time capacity (0.32FTE), 22 hours per fortnight.

This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

The Perfect Fit

This position provides high level support to the Science Department Heads and teachers. The applicant should be knowledgeable with One School and have relevant detailed knowledge of chemical handling and standard operating procedures. This position works within the science department of approximately 30 staff and manages the school science lab and the production of science kits for students in years 7 to 12.

The Ideal Applicant Will Have The Following Skills

* Ability to maintain a safe workplace and systems
* Ability to provide quality advice to teachers and Heads of Department
* Demonstrated ability to maintain science lab protocols and methods
