Distribution Centre Manager
As a pivotal leader in our Townsville operations, the Distribution Centre Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities. This encompasses managing a dynamic team, driving safety and operational performance, and fostering seamless collaboration across departments.
About the Role
* Safety First: Safety is paramount at our site, including the yard and operations. The Distribution Centre Manager champions COR compliance, load restraint standards, and MHE safety.
* Operational Leadership: Achieving cost, KPI, and service metrics is crucial. Optimising service levels, productivity, and cost reductions will be key responsibilities.
* Team Management: The manager will lead a small, agile team focusing on coaching, development, and performance. A positive, learning-oriented culture will be fostered.
* Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Handling calls from sales and customers is essential. Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and 3PL transport providers is vital.
* Strategic Collaboration: The Distribution Centre Manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including onsite manufacturing and sales, to deliver best-possible operational and customer outcomes.
* Continuous Improvement: Driving robust continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency, is critical.
* Compliance & Reporting: Managing reporting, capital projects, and infrastructure upgrades while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards is a key responsibility.
About You
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Distribution environment, running distribution centre in a leadership role is required.
* Proven ability to manage both inbound and outbound logistics, reporting, compliance, and project management of improvement initiatives is essential.
* Experience with WMS systems (SAP/ERP highly regarded), inventory control, and load planning is necessary.
* Knowledge of 5S lean management, Chain of Responsibility (COR), and load restraint regulations is crucial.
* Strong leadership and people management skills, experienced coaching and mentoring others to develop and get the best out of the team are required.
* Highly effective planning and organisation skills, with strong time management, coordination skills, a sense of urgency, results-focused, analytical mindset are essential.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to make quick decisions and build stakeholder and customer relationships are necessary.
* Able to work autonomously as part of a team with a collaborative style, positive, resilient, innovative, challenges the status quo are required.
* Thrive in fast-paced environment, safety-focused, proactive solutions-oriented mindset to everything you do is essential.
* A driver's licence and forklift licence to meet the requirements of the role are necessary.
