About the Job
There is an exciting opportunity with the Sustainability andResource Recovery team for a Sustainability and Resource RecoveryEducator. This role promotes recycling and other waste managementpractices with lead to reduced waste to landfill outcomes withinthe Shire.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Educating the general public, including school children byproviding information and presentations about wasteminimisation and recycling.
* Assist in investigating, implementing and maintainingadditional recycling and waste management opportunities.
* Assist local business and community groups to establish andmaintain in-house recycling practices.
This is a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover position. Therole is part-time, working 20 hours per week.
About you
In order to succeed and thrive in this position, you musthave:
* Knowledge of waste management minimisation principles andpractices focusing on waste reduction, recycling andsustainability.
* Skills in design, delivery and evaluation of communityeducational resources and promotional material for digital andprint media and communications.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with internaldepartments, external agencies, local businesses, educationalinstitutions, community partners, residents and visitors.
Benefits
Salary: $34.07-$35.47 per hour, depending onrelevant experience and qualifications (this is due to increase,pending the approval of the Shire of Esperance Industrial Agreement2025).
Permanent staff are entitled to:
* 5 weeks annual leave per year
* The option of one Rostered Day Off (RDO) every 4 weeks inexchange for working 40 hours per week.
* Minimum of 12% superannuation employer contribution
* Superannuation co-contribution offered to a maximum of5%
