Our client is looking for an organised, detail-driven Payroll Officer to join their People & Performance team. In this role, you'll help deliver accurate, timely and customer-focused payroll services that directly support our workforce and contribute to a well-functioning organisation.
About the Role
As our Payroll Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of end-to-end payroll services in line with legislative requirements, industrial instruments, organisational policies and statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
* End-to-end payroll processing, including timesheets, adjustments, higher duties, back pay and exception reporting
* Process and verify timesheets with a high level of accuracy
* Manage employee leave, entitlements and leave without pay situations
* Liaise with Risk Management to process workers' compensation payments
* Maintain and update employee master file data, including pay rates, allowances, deductions and bank details
* Prepare payroll correspondence, such as statements of earnings and employment verifications
* Maintain personnel records and ensure accurate documentation
* Support employees with payroll enquiries in a professional, customer-focused manner
* Ensure all work aligns with industrial awards, legislative requirements and internal policies
What We're Looking For Essential
* Demonstrated end-to-end payroll experience
* Experience using payroll systems, document management platforms and Microsoft Office
* Strong ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
* Good understanding of general accounting principles
* High level of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail
Desirable
* Experience with SAP HR or SAP CATS
* Completion or enrolment in a payroll qualification
* Familiarity with HR or payroll operations in a medium to large organisation
