Expressions of Interest – Audit and Risk Committee – External Member
The City of Joondalup seeks expressions of interest from appropriately skilled and qualified professionals to serve as an external member on its Audit and Risk Committee.
The Committee is a formally appointed committee of Council in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 and is responsible to Council. The Committee assists the City in fulfilling its responsibilities relating to risk management, internal control, compliance with laws and regulations, financial reporting, and internal and external audit.
You are invited to express an interest if you can address the following selection criteria:
1. Relevant professional qualifications such as accounting / finance, business, governance, law
2. Experience and knowledge of internal and/or external audit, financial reporting, risk management, systems of internal control, legislative compliance
3. Understanding of legislative and regulatory obligations for local government
Experience with the above within a local government environment will be highly regarded.
Council may prefer to appoint a person as an external member who is enrolled to vote in the elections for the City of Joondalup in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1995.
The appointment to the position of external member will be made by Council for a term ending at the local government elections in October 2025. Following the elections, the position may be extended for a further two years.
An external member is entitled to claim legitimate expenses as defined by the Local Government Act 1995.
Expressions of interest are to be submitted by 11:55pm on Tuesday 17 October 2023 .
