Position Information

Epping West Public School has a population of 896 students including three support classes. Our school community is characterised by caring parents, who display a high level of interest in education and a willingness to be involved in the life of the school. Integral to our school environment are our community partnerships and support networks including our Parent and Citizens Association, School Council and Student Representative Council.

Students highly value school and look for ways to explore deeper connections with their learning. Students are given opportunities across the school to take risks in their learning to improve confidence, increase perseverance and to explore other ways of thinking to develop creative solutions to problems. A wide range of extracurricular activities: choir, bands, strings, drama, debating, chess and sporting teams are enthusiastically enjoyed by students.

The school currently has 62.1% of students coming from a Language Background Other than English. The school embraces the inclusion and contribution of all members in our diverse community.

Parents and teachers value learning. The school has a culture of providing a positive learning environment of constant improvement - where all students experience personal success.


Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary

* Recognised capacity to be a highly visible, collaborative and consultative leader fostering positive school community relationships.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively as a member of the school leadership team, to strategically lead initiatives from the School Excellence Plan (SEP) and to evaluate impact and plan for improvement.
* Deep knowledge of current leadership and pedagogical practices to lead curriculum reform, enhancing staff capacity and improving student outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience to meet key responsibilities, managing and prioritising daily operational decisions to meet the needs of all stakeholders across the school.

General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
