Our police officers are on the frontline, managing everything from crime prevention and emergency response to community engagement and public safety.The QPS offers generous superannuation, shift work, part-time arrangements and parental leave amongst its work/life principles and policies.ResponsibilitiesProtect the public through crime prevention, emergency response and public safety duties.Engage with communities to build trust and safety outcomes.Operate across a 38-hour week with a roster that provides balanced work/life opportunities.Salary, training & benefitsGet paid to train: Police recruits receive a training salary and allowance of approximately $55,000pa, plus may receive free accommodation at the police academies in Brisbane or Townsville.Competitive salary: Starting salary of a First Year Constable is $87,509* per annum, comprising $72,322* + 21% Operational Shift Allowance (OSA).

Previous policing experience can attract a higher pay from day one.Work/life balance: 38-hour working week with 9 days off in every 28-day roster.Allowances and leave: 6 weeks recreation leave per year; 13 weeks long service leave after 10 years; additional travel allowances and incentives for remote-area officers.Location & postingsAfter completing training, you will be posted to a designated police station around Queensland.
Preferred locations are considered where possible, but postings may be to any region based on operational requirements.Qualifications & experienceThe QPS seeks individuals with drive, effective communication and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fairness and integrity.Age: 17+ to apply; 18+ by commencement of training.Citizenship: Australian citizen or permanent residency, or New Zealand citizen with SCV, or foreign national with policing experience.Education/Pathways: Year 12 (or equivalent), iPROWD program (or equivalent), or minimum 3 years full time work.Licensing: Open or provisional driver licence with at least 12 months experience by recruit training graduation.Past behaviour, physical and mental fitness appropriate for policing duties.Take the eligibility test to assess entry pathway options.Policing experience & fast-trackingThe QPS invites applications from individuals with previous policing experience in interstate or international jurisdictions, with potential benefits such as:Fast-tracked to the frontline through the 20-week Police Abridged Competency Education (PACE) program.Higher pay from day one at the academy and after graduation.Relocation support up to $20,000.About the companyThe Queensland Police Service (QPS) is a dynamic, community-focused organisation.
