We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Officer to join our team within the Energy Network division. This role can be based anywhere within our operational footprint.
The Senior Engineering Officer is responsible for delivering high‑level technical analysis, design, planning and evaluation across a broad range of engineering functions within the network. The role plays a critical part in supporting network performance, safety, reliability and compliance, while driving continuous improvement and contributing to long‑term network capability.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, technical specialists and external partners, the Senior Engineering Officer provides expert technical advice, prepares detailed analysis and reporting, and contributes to the development of strategic network programs. The role also supports project planning, system enhancement activities and development of business strategies that ensure our network continues to meet customer, regulatory and future energy requirements.
This position requires strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on complex engineering challenges. A deep understanding of network design principles, electrical safety requirements, and technical standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the development, implementation and ongoing review of technical work packets to optimise commercial and technical outcomes.
* Prepare annual work budgets and support the implementation and monitoring of strategic expenditure programs.
* Provide high‑level technical evaluation and strategic input across a broad range of Energy Network projects and designs.
* Conduct detailed analysis, prepare high‑quality technical reports, develop recommendations and support business strategies to monitor and improve system performance.
* Collate, analyse and interpret statistical data, producing complex reports and recommending enhancements to systems, processes and procedures.
* Lead or support technical project activities, including planning, validation of equipment and systems, and evaluation of engineering initiatives.
* Provide expert technical assistance and advice to internal stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and supporting informed decision‑making.

About You
* Extensive experience in a similar engineering role within the energy, electrical or utilities industry.
* Comprehensive knowledge of network design philosophies, statutory requirements and electrical safety rules.
* Proven experience applying technical and analytical skills to manage planned and unplanned events and resolve engineering issues.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports, recommendations and strategic insights.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
* Highly organised, flexible and self‑motivated, with the ability to manage a diverse and complex workload.
* Advanced problem‑solving and decision‑making capability, with strong attention to detail.
* Sound proficiency in business systems and computer applications relevant to the role.
Required Qualifications
* Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalent capability through qualifications and experience.
* Current driver's licence.
* WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate.
* Ability to maintain all required licences, authorisations and certifications for the role.
Desirable
* Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation Access.
