Overview
Alex Barbas is undertaking a 7,800km return run from Sydney to Perth and back to raise $780,000 AUD for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, helping over 20,000 sick children in hospitals across Australia. This run has never been completed before, and with one crew member having to withdraw unexpectedly, there’s now a rare chance to join the core support team on this epic journey.
Important Note
This is a volunteer position supporting a non-profit charity fundraiser, not a commercial expedition. While all core expenses are fully covered (flights, food, accommodation, supplies), there is no salary or daily rate. This role is best suited to those who are passionate about the cause and happy to contribute their time and skills toward a larger mission.
The Role
This crew role involves a combination of medical oversight (where appropriate) and logistics support, working alongside a small team that currently includes a videographer and photographer. Remote medical backup is provided by The Running Room, who are available for advice throughout.
Key journey dates:
- Depart Sydney: 1st September 2025
- Arrive Perth: 17th or 18th October
- Depart Perth: 18th or 19th October
- Return to Sydney: 3rd or 4th December 2025
