Role Details
The Lead Coach, Canoe Sprint, is responsible for the daily coaching of nationally categorized and targeted Canadian Canoe and Para athletes in SASI's Canoe Sprint program. The goal is to enable athletes to achieve podium performances at international benchmark events, with a focus on Olympic and Paralympic Games selection.
The role involves working closely with Paddle SA coaching and talent identification staff to identify and develop athletes, providing leadership to club coaches and the broader South Australian Canoe Sprint community. The Lead Coach reports to the Manager, Sports and Programs, and collaborates with the SASI Para Unit and Talent Search staff to ensure system alignment with national high performance programs.
Key Responsibilities
* Coach and develop athletes to meet international performance standards.
* Collaborate with coaching and talent identification staff.
* Lead and support club coaches and community programs.
* Work under the direction of senior high performance staff.
* Participate in performance management and possibly other roles at this level.
* Travel interstate and work outside normal hours as required.
* Maintain a working with children check and hold a current driver's license.
* Possess a Foundation Paddle Australia Coaching Accreditation or equivalent.
* Have at least 2 years' experience in Canoe Sprint coaching within a high performance environment.
