Close collaboration with management, and course staff is essential to achieving the desired level of presentation and performance.General responsibilities and accountabilitiesThe Course Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the effective maintenance and presentation of the golf course and surrounding grounds. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive golf course maintenance program.Leading and mentoring the course maintenance team, which includes a 2IC and three ground staff, to ensure efficient and timely upkeep of the course and facilities.Managing the course maintenance budget, including expenditure approval and cost control.Ensuring all course equipment is maintained in excellent working condition through regular servicing and upkeep.Storing and handling all chemicals and fertilisers in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and ensuring staff are appropriately trained in their use.Monitoring and maintaining all Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations for course and grounds staff.Managing staff administration, including the preparation of rosters, approval of timesheets, and other relevant duties.Preparing and presenting monthly maintenance reports and plans to the Course Subcommittee.Maintaining strong, professional relationships with the Club President, Board, and members.Participating in working groups and committees as required by the Club.Selection criteriaThe ideal candidate will currently be an experienced 2IC looking to step into a Superintendent role, or an experienced Superintendent seeking a fresh challenge in a new environment. Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, and personal attributes:Qualification in Horticulture, chemical spraying certificate or licence and current driver's licence.Understanding of maintenance requirements of undulating and heavy soil profile fairways.Understanding of maintenance requirements of Bent/Poa green surfaces.Understanding of maintenance requirements of machinery of varying ages.Sound knowledge of pest and disease management.Understanding of the maintenance and scheduling of Toro Sitepro irrigation system.Clear and concise communication skills.Lead and develop the other greens staff members to create a positive working environment.Attention to detail, with a positive, can-do attitude.Network of outside experts e.g. turf consultants, pump and irrigation specialists.Demonstrate an ability to partner with management, the board and sub-committeesDevelop and maintain relationships with other stakeholders including volunteers, members, club professionals etc.Working conditionsThis is a full-time salaried position which may include some weekend work as required.
