We have an opportunity for a qualified and experienced WHS Officer to join the team. Based in Toowoomba, you will have the opportunity to apply your established skills and experience to the various parts of our business, including 4 retail businesses and our irrigation project business. Your approach to work will align with our family owned business commitment to safety and our employees – work safe, home safe.
The WHS Officer is instrumental in establishing, driving, and maintaining a strong and proactive safety culture that encourages accountability and collaboration across the organisation while also ensuring compliance with applicable legislative frameworks, policies and procedures.
The WHS Officer will facilitate systems and the development and review of relevant policies and procedures and safety and compliance training across a small, passionate and geographically dispersed team.
As our safety advisor, you will:
* Work collaboratively within the organisation to promote, develop and foster a collaborative culture which creates a work environment where employees embrace and value safety and take responsibility for their own safety and the overall safety of the business.
* Develop and maintain an effective Safety Management System and ensure implementation across all worksites. This includes the onsite implementation of SWMS to cover various field project activities.
* Develop, implement, manage and review the WHS management system, including standards, policies, and procedures and supporting systems, ensuring that all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and standards are met.
* Provide accurate and up to date information and advice to ensure the business is compliant with applicable legislation and the compliance framework.
* Coordinate and assess the compliance training requirements and coordinate inductions and the verification of competency program.
Skills and Experience, not essential, but highly regarded:-
* Experience in safety leadership
* A professional, open and honest approach to communication
* Vocational or Tertiary qualifications in Safety
* Experience in implementation of systems and processes, on-site training and staff communication
* Experience and working knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and practices as relative to project and construction sites
